Sarahbeth Spasojevich joined us in March of 2023. She is a Resident in Counseling with a master's degree in clinical mental health from The College of William and Mary, along with an MBA and a master's degree in literature. After spending over two decades as a college English instructor, she wanted to focus more on the mental health underpinnings she saw affecting her students' lives.

The human experience can be difficult, and you don't have to do it alone. Sarahbeth is passionate about helping clients live more authentic and connected lives, and therapy can be a powerful way to do that.

Clinical Beliefs
Sarahbeth approaches sessions in a person-centered and strengths-based way, but is trained in many modalities that can support you where you are. You will never be judged in her sessions. She is here to listen and connect with your experiences, and a safe place for you to find what you need to unlock "stuck places" in your life. This is a dedicated space in your life where the only emotions and needs that matter are yours.

Sarahbeth's lens has a particular interest in areas of attachment, trauma, and grief -- not just about the death of a loved one, but of any loss in your life. The loss of jobs, relationships, life stages, and other important life variables often need space to process and grieve.

Special Training
Sarahbeth is Trauma-Supportive Level 1 and 2 certified and working towards Gottman Level 1 and 2 Clinical Training certification for couples. Her MBA combined with her clinical mental health degree offers unique insights for couples and individuals struggling with emotional difficulties surrounding financial stressors. She also has experience working with ethical non-monogamy and LGBTQIA individuals.

What a first session looks like with Sarahbeth
The first session has its own "personality," and might feel more clinical than later on. It's a time to share broad strokes of your background experiences and areas where you'd like to focus your therapy, and she'll ask questions about your history and needs.

It's also an opportunity for you to share your questions or concerns about therapy, and what you envision for your future sessions. Therapy is a collaboration, and this session allows you to co-create what you want it to be for you and your goal

What therapy looks like with Sarahbeth
There is never pressure to be inauthentic in your sessions, as this is a safe place for you to share your struggles and growth -- however incremental it might feel, your efforts will be celebrated. It takes vulnerability and bravery to choose therapy, and you're giving yourself an incredible gift by being here.

If you're someone who likes to expand topics between sessions with podcasts, books, movies, social media accounts, or other resources, Sarahbeth has a wide variety of resource options to suit your style.
